High Efficiency Hot Water Furnaces / Boilers

If you're currently using a boiler and either radiant floor heating, hot water radiators or baseboards to warm your home, but the boiler itself is 15-20+ years old, there are many reasons to upgrade to a new, more energy efficient system. Even if your existing boiler is still operational, make note of the following because upgrading now rather than when the boiler fails may make more financial sense. SHINES Energy / Aire Serv Halifax has several models and sizes of German-made Buderus and Lennox hot water boilers to fit your home's particular configuration.

If you're ready to upgrade to a newer, more efficient boiler, get in touch with us to learn about your options and to find the unit that's best equipped to satisfy your heating needs.

The Differences

New boilers save money in several ways. First, their burners convert more of the energy in the oil to heat. Second, the boiler is designed to transfer more of that heat to the water that heats your home and domestic hot water. Third, with a computer control, the boiler can save energy by automatically using a lower internal temperature whenever possible, which results in higher efficiency, cleaner burning, and lower maintenance costs.

The Savings

New boilers are so energy efficient that they have efficiency ratings as high as 97 percent. Compare that figure with the rating given to many older boilers, a low 65, and it's easy to see how new technology will save you money in the long run. With little heat wasted in the process, an investment in a new boiler can be recouped quickly through lower energy bills.

It's not unusual to see a new burner use half or less of the oil used for space heating the home.
